"TO CATCH A THIEF" SCREENING
This special event, held on April 29, 2026 commemorated the 70th anniversary of Princess Grace’s marriage to Prince Rainier III of Monaco — an historic union that forged a lasting bond between the Principality and the United States.
On April 29, the Embassy of Monaco in Washington, D.C., in partnership with the Motion Picture Association and Paramount co-hosted a special event to honor the enduring legacy of Grace Kelly as an actress and cultural icon. Her legacy is carried on through the work of the Princess Grace Foundation–USA.
Following a cocktail reception, Alfred Hitchcock’s To Catch A Thief, was screened,. It was one of Grace Kelly’s most celebrated films and features Monaco and the French Riviera and it is closely associated with Monaco’s cinematic heritage.

The marriage of Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace, the former Grace Kelly of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, remains an enduring human connection between the principality of Monaco and the United States – celebrated through culture, memory and artistic heritage. The nuptials were held in the Principality on April 18 (the civil ceremony) and April 19 (religious ceremony). Dubbed the “Wedding of the Century” it was televised globally and seen by more than 30 million viewers.
Many of the lasting charitable foundations and institutions she founded or were later established in her name, encompass many interests and continue her commitment of support for the arts and culture, children’s and women’s welfare, her Irish heritage, and her love of flowers. On April 18, 1956, His Serene Highness Prince Rainier and Miss Grace Kelly of Philadelphia, USA celebrate their civil wedding in the Palace of Monaco.
The following day, they are wed in Monaco’s Cathedral in the “Wedding of the Century” which was broadcast to over 30 million international viewers.
When their children arrived — Caroline (January 23, 1957), Albert (March 14, 1958) and Stephanie (February 1, 1965) — they were reared with devotion, fairness, discipline, and overall, love.
Whilst Trying to maintain a sense of normalcy and privacy amid a life in the public eye, Princess Grace strove to balance her traditional views on childrearing with the ever-present opinions of the interested public and the curious media.
Before she was a Princess, wife and mother, a young Grace Kelly was a model, actress and magazine cover girl – all over the world!
